Well the Octavia you have is the AGN engine but with a turbo - the other engines AUM, i think are 150 bhp with a turbo - so the AGN can be that bad a lump!
It is pretty quick, especially after 3000 revs, i too have a powerflow exhaust which makes a bit of difference & a new panel filter along with a remap will only make it faster - poss 140 horses. I haven't driven a turbo yet - i can definitely see the appeal though after r-tech get their hands on it.

Do what I done with my old A3 with the AGN, don't change the cambelt and let it wrenk the engine. Then put a BAM engine in and change ecu etc and hey presto, your out of pocket. Even more simple fix, buy a 1.8T as they are cheap enough now.

Mine has also done high mileage - 124k - honestly the car is quick after 3000 rpm - its sluggish in the lower rev range - i know you had yours on ebay - i was intertested at one point, so did you get what you were after, £1800-2k?  -i still love the car and managed to get my brother a little scared in it!
As soon as the revs go past 3k it does start behaving differently - it does shift  - maybe i got lucky but having a new maf and lambda sensor makes the difference.
I had a mechanic change the sump and front brakes. He had recently driven his mates mapped gti turbo giving 300+hp and said he was impressed when taking it out for a spin- obvoiusly its not the same torque etc but its still pretty good.

yes i sold it for the £2000 mark, when i say it was sooo slow i was comparing it to the car i owned before that which was a zr160 which is a pretty quick car. I tried all sorts on mine, i fitted new coil pack, maf meter, lamba sensor etc. There ok but at the end of the day if you really want more power then your better off buying a turbo model, it will be cheaper than spending stupid money on the NA. and they have alot more tuning potential.

i know its been a while since the last post, but will the map on this engine(AGN) improve the fuel economy. The MAF and lamda sensor which had improved the economy have lost their mojo and i am now getting 100 miles for every purple drinking voucher - same old same old - if the remap will help longterm then i'll book myself in to r-tech and get it done this week.

wont help that much mate, might see you an extra 2-3mpg. Honestly mate, your pissing in the wind, sell the slug and get a turbo engined model, petrol or diesel.

You obviously have another problem with the car so there's no point trying to hide it with a remap!
