Looking to buy a GT TDi... anything I should know/look for?

Howdy all.

I'm looking to pick up a mk4 GT TDi when I sell my current car, so what should I look out for?

I've seen 110 & 115 versions on ebay within my budget (circa £2k-£2,5k) so what are the main differences? I gather there's 130 & 150 versions too, any gen?

Hey its abit dead on this side of the forum,

Check that the cam belt has been done. Also its had the PD oil used, if not it can eat the engine.  The clutches start to go at 80k.

The 110 has a 5 speed box and the 115 has a 6 speed box, they are both underpowered unless tweaked with a remap (r-tech are the one to use). If you want to start modin it I would go for the 150 as they all have front mounted intercoolers so better for hybrid'ing. 130s have the arm rest as standard and don't have the boring wood trim.

Also the 110's do not use the PD (pump deuss - or something!) injection system so are still efficient but not as effeicient as the later PD models. I had a 110 myself so any questions I'll do my best to answer.

It's a pity it's a bit quiet in here though, I'll have to do my best to come up with millions of Q's to liven it up

The 150 looks a bit out of my price range at the moment, so I think the 130 is what I'll be looking at, I assume they're all 6 speed gearboxes? If I can't find a 130 then a 115 will do at a push as I expect a remap will be on the cards when the wife's not looking!

The PD oil is specifically for the PD engine, it's VW spec 505.01.  If this oil isn't used then severe damage can be caused to the engine.

about to jump on the same bandwagon aswell, have a mk2 gti 16v, a mk3 8v, and soon to have a mk4 gt tdi, not sure of the model other than its silver 5 door at the moment for £1000

so the mk3 is up for grabs
