Hi - I live in Auckland NZ. Emigrated from the UK in '89. Bought my first GTi in '83, kept it for 8 years and did 250k in it without any trouble. I decided to re-live the good old days and now have an '89 Mk2 16V which is in very good condition having only had 3 owners. Trying to get parts for a Mk2 in NZ is very difficult so I thought I'd join the forum to find out where to get stuff, and meet some like-minded friends along the way. I'm currently trying to find out what the free length of the rear springs is. Mine have sagged quite badly so I need to get them re-tensioned. My son is currently restoring a Mk1 GTi, of which there are probably less than 20 in NZ.
