I would say that im on the phone 50% of the time i am in the car, and I dont think it affects my driving. If you feel it affects yours then your a ghey driver (and probably dsg ).

You don't think it affects your driving, but it does.

you are using different parts of your brain. talking to someone uses more brain power and deeper concentration.

(i've just made that up, utter tosh )

It's actually correct. You use different parts of your brain for listening and talking. And having a conversation with someone in the car is different to talking to someone on the phone - you visualise images more when talking on the phone, which tends to use the part of your brain which should be processing the view out of the windscreen.

On the topic of Fiscon - why doesn't it use the telephone button on the wheel? Or does it??

However, getting back on topic, one person seems t be having an issue with their Fiscon, everyone else rates it highly.

Yeah and it sounds like it wasn't installed correctly.
I know I'd rather put my money on Fiscon than the limited compatibility of the VW unit.

RIGHT!!!

After some debacle at VW in Birmingham yesterday.... I am all Fiscon Bluetoothed up!!

It's all working.... I was there for two hours and fielded about 4 calls between Fiscon and The VW tech's.

The end result was the VW Tech's saying it didn't work and that I would have to go to FISCON and get them to code the car via their aftermarket VAG Com system.
The then warned me that if the coded the car wrongly - the master computer would be fooked and the whole thing would be void of warranty!!!

I left the garge not happy..... But - then I got into my car, switched on the ignition and all was working - MFD, Steering wheel controls etc....!

Now very happy. - and all in all excellent customer service from Sarah Heath (sales) - and the two VW techs!

So, the VW technicians said they couldn't fix it, but they did without realising they had??

What is important is that the Fiscon Bluetooth is NOW working...  Only wish this happens more frequently. Then perhaps we dont need magic anymore...

I'd actually prefer mine without the aerial, so as Fiscon can be made to work with a little magic and crossed fingers, I think I'll choose that.

Sorry, but the standard of driving these days is shocking, not helped by all the knobs and buttons the car companies have conned us into 'needing' over the years.  Men , sadly, cannot concentrate on more than one thing at a time and using a mobile, playing with the cruise control, heated seats, radio/ipod are all increasing your risk.

Go to Germany or Austria, or even France and you will see a much better standard of driving , especially with lane discipline on multi lane roads.  <1% of drivers in the UK take additional driving tuition after passing their test - when was the last time you did ?  Whats your hazard awareness like ??

My company has removed all handsfree from its 1000+ cars as mobile use got to such a high level that it was deemed irresponsible on safety.

No matter what the rules , people will always flout them :(

I know what you mean!  I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago and was astounded at how terrible their driving was!
There were parts where the roads had no lanes and all merged into each other.  My taxi driver was tooting and screaming at the car next to him as they both tried to squeeze into the same gap.  They must REALLY know how wide their cars are though, as they squeeze through the smallest of spaces.
As a fairly nervous passenger after having my car written off - being a passenger in Paris was HELL!

Anyway - back on topic!  Glad the Fiscon is working now.  I'm going to retrofit one of these eventually.  With the group buy, its cheaper than the standard VW one and has a lot of extra features.  The only downer is that the blurb on the wbsite says some features don't work with a white MFD?
