Faulty fiscon Bluetooth??
« on: 27 September 2009, 10:59 »
Picked up my new spanking White GTI yesterday!! RCD 510 with Dynaudio. zenons and monza shadows.

Now... VW fitted my fiscon basic plus system which works great with te RCD 510.... BUT - the Steering wheel controls do nothing at all an the MFD display does not show anything to do with the fiscon kit. As I understand it shouldn't both the Rcd and the MFD work simultaneously!??

And the shouldn't the call button on te steering wheel work??

Is it faulty, have VW fitted it incorrectly??

Help?

I had the coding looked at as my RNS510 was retro fitted. We (for some reason) couldnt get into one of the control modules to get all the steering buttons to work.

The sat nav does come up on the mfd, as does track names etc. We tried to change the settings to tell the CPU that the VW phone was fitted but it wasnt having any of it. tbh i prefer to just use the touch screen to answer calls, but can understand your concern.

As I see it the whooole Idea of a bluetooth phone fit is to help prevent your eyes coming off the road - now, if i've got to look over to my left to find the answer button on the touch screen when recieving a call doesn't that defeat the object??
I bought this system because it specifically states that it will work with the steering wheel controls and the MFD.... as it doesn't I'm wondering if i've just wasted the best part of £400 and I should have stuck with my iphone headphones!!

Have they actually activated the telephone on VAG.COM?
Email fiscon, they appear to be customer focused and will reply to you. But i suspect its not been fitted completely. Maybe vw p*issed off you never fitted their system.

Do you have the 'basic' or 'basic plus'? If it's Basic plus you should be able to get everything on both displays and working from the buttons on the right side of the wheel.

i have the plus kit and all the buttons work ok on the steering wheel and so does the MFD. The only thing i cant do very well is the texting, it works sometimes but not others. ie it doesnt alwasy shown the new text message on the MFD and then the next day it does. Doesnt seem to show missed calls ever though if your out of the car and the phone goes.

Sounds to me like the fiscon isn't all it's cracked up to be. Then again hands free should be banned as well IMO

Well everyone else is happy with theirs, for me it's well worth it.
