If you do a search on here the mk3 GTi 2.0 8v normal is as I said !! Don't know if the 1.4 unit is normal to go up to 110 before the fan comes in...Sounds high to me as the coolant will be past boil point before the fan even cuts in..

Coolant won't boil under pressure, perhaps in some way the smaller engines are different?

Maybe mines slightly faulty, it won't go over 90 normally, just if you put your foot down hard.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

Coolant with a 50/50 mixture with water typically boils at 106 C !!

Not under pressure.

Water cannot boil under pressure, so as long as the coolant system can handle it, it will not boil.

Yes my mistake forgeting its under pressure. So it won't boil at 110 !! Being under pressure raises the boiling point !!

If the fan cuts in and out as it should and your not losing any coolant then all is fine. Your gauge maybe a little inaccurate.

Right folks heres the deal, The heads been skimmed, a new gasket, not loosng any water/coolant, but its still going to 110 but coming down to 90 again, its seems to be going up when im in 5th and going fast, and comin down when im going slower.

I feel like packing it in and getting a new polo or a mk4 golf or something, really pissed off

Sound's pretty normal to me.

Change the thermostat to a lower temp one if you want it cooler.
