I've never owned a VW before and after ordering a new GTI 5 weeks ago, I thought I'd just jot down my first impressions..
The salesman at VW Wayside was an absolute gent and I managed to work a pretty good deal (a saving of over £3.5K all in all) with him- he called me a smiling assassin which made me smile
. He said it should take about 12-14 weeks before delivery because I'd ordered bi-xenons, leather etc etc which seemed fair enough (after reading about other guys experiences on here).
I then had a call a few days afterwards from the dealer saying they'd keep me informed of progress etc- so far so good. I didn't hear anything more so I popped into VW last Saturday and saw the salesman for an update. The test drive has me me a very impatient fella
The salesman said it's due on the production line mid Nov but this is likely to be brought forward and that VW will phone me Tuesday just gone- they didn't so I rang them on Thursday and left a message. No word yet but I'm kinda hoping that's just a blip...
Either that or they'll get bored with me harrassing them I reckon...
Anyhow's sorry for rambling- I've learnt loads about the GTI from this site already and reckon I'll be an expert by the time the car comes
