problem with my golf gti 8v
« on: 26 September 2009, 08:00 »
got a problem with my golf gti 8v it wont tick over when running. it will run if you start in on the key with your foot on the gas peddle but wont if you dont, and as soon as you lift off it cuts out. Its popping and banging when driving as its missing, its got no pull what so ever. if they engine stalls it wont bump start will only start on key. Im thinking that either the mafs gone or theres a problem with the crank sensor. Has anyone else got any suggestions on whats amatter with it?

Sounds like a ignition problem, have you had the leads off, if not could be coill, dizzy or cap.

Sounds like a sensor problem.

i had a very similar problem a few months ago, I changed loads of things and nothing fixed it until i changed the water temp sensor, might be that.. might be worth a shot.
Wouldn't be fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

noticed the other day when the cars stalling theres a ticking noise from throttle body do they have a iacv (idle air control valve) wondering if this is jamming/failing
