Gti first mods?
« on: 23 September 2009, 22:24 »
Hello,

Hopefully going to get a Mk5 Gti soon. Holding out for finding Candy White :)

I want to do a bit of modding but not go mad. Asthetically, want to keep it standard, other than maybe exhaust, but wonder what could be done for a couple of grande?

Have read up on an ECU upgrade and that seems like a good start. What else would people recommend?

Cheers for any ideas :)

Z3ro.

Don't bother with the white colour.
In my rear mirror you will look like a tradesmans van.
And a traffic cop to everyone else.

Then add either an S3 brake upgrade or at least uprated pads.

Lowering springs wouldn't go amiss either

Revision D DV is about £40 to buy
Remap about £500
Milltek about £1100 for the full turbo-back system or £400 for a Catback
Brakes around £500 for an S3 front and rear upgrade
Springs about £150 plus fitting.

hurdy is the price on those S3's fitted though?  I presume not as thats a fair amount of labour, and if it is then where you going as the standards are not the greatest when at the limit

Not really but the standard one is prone to splitting under the increased load from a remap.
