adding a ko4
« on: 23 September 2009, 11:43 »
hi guys

in my quest for a ed30 im having trouble getting the colour i want and also the spec.

there seem to be a few gtis with what i want but oviously they havnt got the k04 turbo, does anybody know if the turbos are interchangeable and if so how much can you source one for. also is that the only engine diffrence other than the mapping?

many thanks

Keep scouring ebay. they do come up from time to time. The last K04 I saw went for £750 including injectors etc. They will bolt straight on. The only thing you may need is a different downpipe for the exhaust, but the stock ones can be made to fit if you want to save a few £££'s.

If you need a bigger downpipe sounds a like a perfect excuse for a full turbo back Milltek system :D

Thanks guys, so is that the only bits i will need, turbo and injectors. any ideas if these are avavlible from audi or vw as a spare part?

downpipe wont be a problem as i plan to scrap the exhaust in fav of a 3" blueflame

you can but you'll have to have majorily deep pockets

Better off sourcing from local scrapyards etc and look for rear ended ED30's and possibly MK2 Leon Cupra's

Also if you don't want to get your hands dirty I believe JKM Performance do a full conversion package

Yes, quite a bit, you are going to be pushing your luck with stock gti internals if you max out the K04 i.e. 345bhp
