What can i do to the car for increased performance looking to get it around the 250bhp mark. cheers
Depends what car you start out with, a late model (AUM, AUQ) will see 245bhp with a 4 bar fpr and suited map, big bore downpipe with high-flow cat and s/s backbox, and a decent intake. That lot will rack up a bill of roughly 2 grand.
On earlier cars (AGU) you're talking turbo change time. Depending how cheaply you can get a k03s or k04 turbo this is feasible, but then add on custom maps, exhaust and intakes as above, you're looking at closer to 3 grand.
This is where most people stop, but others carry on with a BIG turbo upgrade to get 300 - 400bhp. Doing all as above, plus manifold, injectors etc, the turbo itself.. custom downpipe, then you WILL need uprated clutch/brakes/suspension (poss. bushes too), FMIC, not to mention 17" min. wheels to cover the brakes. I worked out the cost of all this once, roughly 10 grand.. as said in mad max, speed is just a question of how much money you have?
