That is what it would look like

And it would require one long bolt in one hole, and the others standard length.

I don't get why they do 4x100 - 5x100 and not the other way around, surely the bolts would be in the same place?
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

I believe for the fronts you can have a 4 stud flange (lol) pressed in and for the rears you need to swap the discs to a 4x100 pair :)

Probably got lost in the "Great Crash of 08

Not sure but I looked for ages and never found any.

simple to do this:

for the fronts you need:
-need hubs from the mk2 golf gti 16v (late so it has 256mm brakes)
-g60 discs

for the rears:
-mk2 gti discs

done! you can use all your existing calipers and carriers.

might be worth changing tie rod ends, ball joints, etc in the process too.

you can get a pair of new g60 discs from gsf for like £60 i think and the mk2 gti rears are like £40... not too sure, but i paid around this i think.

:)

The above kinda works, problem is you need to swap the balljoints over and mod the wishbones. trouble with doing it that way is the wheel ends up off centre in the arch as the ball joint mounting on the wishbone is further forward/back. This will throw the geometry out.

Ideally you want 4 stud MK3/Passat wishbones, but this also means you need to change the anti roll bar as the end fixings differ between 4 & 5 stud, which involves dropping the subframe.

Once you get that sorted pretty much any VAG 4 stud bearing carriers with 256+ front brakes will work, high spec mk3, passat, SEAT etc.  Then you also need to swap the outer c/v joints for MK2/3 4 stud ones as the spline is different.

Another solution is to swap 4 stud hubs into your 5 stud bearing carriers, again swap the outer C/Vs.  Issue here is the discs, you'll need to re-drill them to suit

And note that this acts as a 20mm spacer! So you need to look at the offset of your wheels and then work out if you will have clearance problems.

Cheers everyone for all this information it has given me plenty of food for thought,
Would i be right in saying pressing the 4 stud hub into the 5 stud carrier is the easiest option and rather than get the disks re-drilled i could buy some more ?

Love this forum just love it.

Easiest option is still to get some different wheels!

Think about this, how long will you keep the car? When and if you go to sell it this mod may affect the value and sellability!
I certainly wouldnt buy a car that had been mucked about with in this way as you would never know how well it had been done!

+1 offset will be wrong as well if they are from a E30
