Another option is standard one but wrap a cable tie around the middle makes them a lot tighter.

So would that be a quick fix on my knackered ones?

WooHoo! Found some on Venom!  £4.84 each! Not bad at all  Powerflex ones.

Will have to ring and check they are the right ones but they look right!

Cheers Nick!

The magnex exhaust is about 7 kgs lighter than the standard exhaust so god knows how long they would last with the heavier standard exhaust. Another good design by VW!

Cheers

Paul

REALLY!!?? I always thought that the stainless steel grade is heavier anyway and its thicker metal.

Be worth a try I guess as it will be a few days before the poly ones arrive!

Yes it should help, its kept me going on a few trackdays. You will need good quality cable ties though not the cheap pound shop ones.

When you get your new ones put a cable tie around them too, it will stop them stretching too much.

Yes just looked it up. The full magnex cat back exhaust is / was 7kgs lighter than the standard exhaust. Stainless steel is stronger than the normal exhaust metal and less prone to corrossion so I presume that they can make them from a thinner gauge material and there are less baffles and packing inside them which will save weight.
I only bought mine for the weight saving so got them to weigh it first. As far as I can tell apart from noise they make very little differance performance wise.

Agree on the performance bit! My system added about 3bhp  (RR figures!)

REALLY!!?? I always thought that the stainless steel grade is heavier anyway and its thicker metal.

Std exhuasts have more baffles/internals and larger mid box than after market (if it has a mid box) so would be heavier in that respect.
If Magnex system is Aluminized MS then it will be lighter as it is same grade steel with less internals.
SS systems use thicker material and bracing as SS is less ductile and brittle compared to MS hence the extra weight.
Its 6 of one 1/2 dozen of the other really  SS= bigger less internals MS= smaller more internals i would not expect that much weight difference.

With the mounting rubbers i have found that most after market systems are fitted with cheap rubber mounts
which dont last.
I fitted all powerflex ones after Powerflow ones fell apart after 6 months, this was even worse as the exhaust was held poorly and deflected into the rear beam and heatsheilds, i now have Powerflex on the mid double hanger, VW on the second point and a screw in Mini one on the rear box hanger.
This is now the best its been but due to fooked engine mount i am getting a slight banging when pulling away hard
Powerflex mounts are ok when they actualy fit, VW/OE mounts are made of GOOD Rubber not PVC/EVA as per cheap ones and will carry an after market exhaust fine.
Its all about gettin it to fit right
