look under the car in front of the passenger side rear wheel, its under there.  spray it with penatrating oil whilst wiggling it, then dry it off and give it a going over with some grease. keep this up every now & again and it will prolong the life of the unit, but it might be advisable to just replace it. this is your call based on the condition of it :).

I've seen them seized solid before, but never had to replace one, unless it was leaking.
Use plenty of wd40, and give a few good whacks on the lever with a rubber mallet, then some more wd40.

if the car has been raised/lowered the arm needs adjusting. i set mine so when the car is sat on level ground the slack is just taken out of the spring :)

if you look at the bracketry where the spring is bolted to the car is a slotted hole, loosen the nut/bolt and adjust to suit. if its lowered really far there may not be enough adjustment, in this case I have seen people stretch the spring, but its not easy.

the guy in question used a widowmaker jack, held inside a wheely bin so if it pinged off it wouldnt go thru someones window or summat
