Porsche seats (front AND rear) or corrado seats?!
« on: 15 September 2009, 10:57 »
Ok so I'm looking to replace my seats/interior as they are looking a bit 'tired' now. Was originally thinking just whack in nicer mk2 seats or maybe mk3/4/5 but started getting ideas after the edition38 show... So, basically I want seats that hold you more in the corners without going to the extent of full-on buckets. I'd like to keep it oem+ and retro stylieee so was thinking corrado ones as I bloody love the look of the rear bench but also seen some rather nice looking old skool porsche seats out of an 80s 911. I've seen front porsche seats loads of times but never rears in a mk2/1. Can it be done? I'd like matching front and rears really. I realise there would be a bit of work to fit & the rears wouldn't fold down.

Any thoughts, suggestions, comments like "porsche seats in a golf?! How gay" or "do something original" are all welcome  haha.

Anything can be fitted, all you need is to mod or make up subframes

Yeh I realise that's the case for fronts but didn't know what the crack was for rears, especially the porsche seats - size wise I mean really. They look a bit different so wondered if it had been done before I go down that route & waste my time. Especially if it'll look crap :undecided:

Corrado fronts fit straight in.

Rears:

FWIW Rado seats are the most supportive and comfortable of that era. I have them in my rado (duh!) and also in my MKII and they are pretty good in the MKII even for track days!

Really? Thats very interesting to know. The only reason is was considering porsche seats was for the comfort not really the looks. Are they much better than the standard mk2 offerings? I've never had the pleasure of driving a rado (yet)

Yeah they have bigger and more supportive bolsters and they drop much lower than the MKII items.

Weirdly the link is actually based on the conversion done n my MKII but long before I owned it. It still has the welded in brackets in the back but they'll be cut out over the winter when I get on my weight reducing mission.

It's weird seeing old pics isn't it. I dug up a few oldies of mine here too! A total rip out sounds like fun. I've seen your car in a few other links too - sounds like a bit of a weapon on the track! Where do you race? I'm not far away from you down in sunny bournemouth

Where do you race?

Nick doesn't race, that's his other old Golf that does that .

He does track days, at places like Castle Combe and Silverstone etc.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
