This going to totally mess up my routine of filling up once a week

You're just going to have to radge you're car about to lower the MPG and keep that timetable!
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Yep.. still running in. Although another long distance trip should fix that this weekend

problem was that along single a-roads and 3 old people driving at 40mph on NSL roads its almost impossible to find overtaking space.. and when you do there is always a tractor 2 miles down the road.. and then guess who ends up back behind you again??? yes the old folks, and you can almost see them saying "going faster doesnt get you anywhere quicker" through your rear view

Not as far as I am aware. It was more as if the computer suddenly decided that the engine was run in and decided it could use less fuel. I had a similar experience on a new car a couple of years ago, but I can't remember which one it was (I change cars a lot)

Had a similar thing happen in my mk5, just happened overnight. Better response and mpg.
Must be an engine management thing. Don't remember it being a particular milelage (1k, 1.5k or 2k), maybe it's set for km?

+1 lol, and you have to pretend there's something really important to fiddle with on the centre console, so that you can avoid looking at them in your rear view mirror
