£99 pound service voucher from VW
« on: 09 September 2009, 09:42 »
I just got a voucher through the post from Western VW on the Gorgie Road in Edinburgh offering me a £99 pound service or a half price MOT!!

Anyone else been sent any similar offers as it seems to good to be true!!!  Coupled with the fact that I bought my ED30 from the other VW dealer in Edinburgh so not sure why I got the offer from Gorgie!!!

Forever a cynic, here... but make sure the small print includes GTIs/Ed 30?

Excellent value though if it's all true

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Me too that is why I asked on here to see if anyone had the same

There is minimal small print and all that it says is that it has to be mentioned when you book the service and that it has to be used by 12/2009 and luckily for me my service is due next month.

Still can't believe it to be true - hopefully others may have received the same.

I had a service completed recently in Glasgow for £118 at a VW stealer... Not bad.

Still, that extra £20 could have paid for a Sunday morning blast

My first MOT is due next week, £54 at my local VW dealer.

Anyone think there is any merit in getting the MOT done at a dealer or would I be just as well heading off to a local garage and paying half the price?

While we're on the subject and without starting yet another cambelt thread, I need to get mine done - what should I be looking at for a competitive quote? Should I get the water pump done too and how much on top for that? I've done 64k miles

That is the standard Governmet cost of an MOT, you will not get it any cheaper (unless some pikey garage is offering an MOT with a tyre change or something)

There are plenty of garages that do cheaper MOT's, some also do free MOT's with a service.
However be wary, as some certainly 'look' for extra work

Yeah, appreciate that is the figure set by the Government, just wondered if any reputable deals had been doing the rounds.

Will probably just get it booked in and done by VW.

I used to get mine done at BMW (when I had a BMW), they would collect the car, drop it off fully valeted, and all for the cost of a standard MOT... no other work carried out. That was nice :)
