Im quite sure the strap is for the 1ltr of oil they should supply you with. Cargo net is excellent (or used to be ). Great for holding bottles of spirits or wines, anythign that you dont want flying aroung your boot and making noise.

The net came as standard, although I only noticed it yesterday when I took the photos and will probably never use - what did you put in it?

Errr, I've got a Map, a jacket and other assorted tosh under the net.

Also, a litre of oil in the left recess and a litre of VW screenwash in the right cubby hole.

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

yea...how come there is no little storage compartment on the right hand side of the boot ? (keep my oil top up in it) and is that a net under the parcel shelf ? ..I had one of those in my mk 5 and miss it.

The net came as standard, although I only noticed it yesterday when I took the photos and will probably never use - what did you put in it? However, there's no storage compartment in my car, just that strap thing on the driver's side (LHD) where I suppose the official VW safety jacket and triangle are supposed to go.

That is for the warning triangle and first aid kit.

The net goes over your shopping or other loose items in the boot so that they don't fly around.

No, but I think it must come as standard in France. We also get the RCD510 and a couple of other things you don't. Weird.

Lucky sod. I was amazed though when I saw the RCD510 wasn't standard in the GTI here in UK. It is the top model of the Golf range after all.

What else did you get - or am I just going to become even more jealous..
