Finally, after 17 odd weeks....
« on: 06 September 2009, 12:48 »
....I finally picked up my GTI on Friday!  Was it worth the wait?  F7ck yeah it was!  First impressions:  did i think it would be much different to my mk 5 gti?  No.  is it?  Yes!  Its awesome.

Hightlights:

Handling - feels so much tighter, car literally sticks to the road.
Exhaust noise - put your foot down and listen - its quality.
Interior - much much better (and the mk5 was v good).  the quality inside is there for all to see.
Looks - looks quality, i love it.  monza shadows (18s) are amazing and even better than the ones on the mk5.  i particuarly love the back of the car too, the split exhausts are lovely.
Stereo - is so worth upgrading to the 510 with dynaudio - the sound is excellent, zero distortion at high volume.

so all in all i love it.  just wanted to say thanks to all for all the advice and help you guys have posted over the last few months - most appreciated!  here's a few pics (hope i've done it right as never posted pics before)....

Vey very nice.
I'm picking mine on Friday. It's going to be a long week.

A couple of questions for you when you come back to your comp (it may be a long wait:)
1. Is it black or carbon grey?
2. Did you get the bottle opener and top up oil? :)
3. What was the delivery mileage?

its a 5dr. i haven't used it at night yet so didn't know about that - that is cool! one thing i did notice is that if you put it in reverse while parking and then flip the wing mirror switch to 'L' the passenger side mirror moves down and to the side so that you can see the kerb you're reversing up to - very, very cool and also most useful to save kerbing those alloys!!

Go out in it tonight you`ll be well impressed also there are two red led`s by the rear view mirror they shine downwards and light up the gear stick/stereo area, there is supposed to be cornering lights as well but i`ve not really worked out what and when they are for or how they work. :undecided:
