My new steering wheel....
« on: 06 September 2009, 00:19 »
An old friend saw me working on my Golf at work some months ago, he did his apprenticeship at a local VW dealership (Castles, now Reg Vardy) in the early 80s, and now works at the local Bentley dealers, in conversation, he happened to mention a steering wheel, that was mounted on the wall, in the parts dept, where it hung for around 15yrs, it never got sold, probably due to its £200+ price tag! the dealership was relocated, and the steering wheel was liberated! and somehow managed to end up in my mates loft... so, never used, today it ended up in my possession, and is awaiting fitment to my Valver
Its a Votex (13inch, as O/E) black leather, red hand stitching and really is in mint condition, apart from the dust thst is, I believe that these steering wheels were an approved VW option for the GTIs, hence it being on the wall at the dealers all those years ago..
scene points, you tell me!

Mega scene points there

Looks cheap and nasty like it belongs in a French car  :undecided:

I know what you mean Jay, and I'm not actually sure that I like it myself, that said, the pics really dont do it justice, and at around 25 years old, has a very dated look, but high in quality.. I'll fit it, and see if it grows on me...

You could probably get £200 for it on Ed38, maybe more depending on how many scene points they will get for having it

Not really worth much that dude. I tell you what i'll give you £5 for it.

A friend of mine picked up a GTi engineering wheel similar to that but with 3 spokes for £3 at a car booty. He then went on to sell it for £146 on e bay the same week.

I rekon yours should be worth more than that.
