I think the 'black' bit may have sommat to do with it.  My RS is silver, and I get no real probs at all

Soot-slinging and black is the accepted livery of the company-car, I suppose.  :smug:

My pal has an RS4 Avant in silver, with all the shiny bits removed and he get's constantly bothered, but in the opposite way, I.e.
people seem to have no idea about the thunder under the bonnet!

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

The MK5 is VERY understated imo.

Used to get people all the time trying to race me in the MK4 GTI but hardly get any bother in the MK5, only now and again.

Nothing to do with the looks mate, it was just everyone knew a nova with an exhaust is faster than a mk4 gti

I think there is a lot of generalisation here. Whilst I'm sure there are a great many GT owners, who are jealous because they couldn't afford a GTI, 32, ED30 etc, or their company car allowance wouldn't stretch to it, we GT drivers are not all tw*ts. Like Darren (mortygttdi), I've done all this in my youth, and whilst I do give my remapped soot burner a good outing once in a while, I know it's not faster that a lot of cars out there so I don't try. Further more, with all the speed cameras and plod positioned on every overpass, what's the point? Save it for the track that's my theory.

Oh, and just so you know, R32 owners it would seem are just as bad. Whilst out in Reading a couple of weeks ago, I was overtaken on a dual carriageway by an Audi RS4. Now I was doing about 75ish (honest) and he left me for dead, so I'm thinking 3 figures at least. Glued to his back bumper was a blue 32, no more than 4 feet between bumpers. Trouble was the driver of the 32 was so intent on overtaking the Audi, that he didn't notice the reason the Audi pulled into the inner lane and slowed down was because there was a roundabout coming up. The 32 saw it at the last minute and slammed on, with no hope of stopping, so fast was he going. He tried to steer onto the roundabout, but collided with a car coming round the roundabout and ended up going straight into the island and collecting both the chevron signage and also a lampost.

We all stopped, and luckily no one was seriously hurt, but the 32 was a write off (as was it looked like the Peugeot 406 he hit). Needless to say, Plod arrived, and me lad was breatherlised and one of the coppers started taking statements from witnesses. With no surprise, people were telling the Police how insanely fast he was going, and one guy said he was being flashed and tooted a few miles back by the 32 who was sat right on his ars* at 70 to pull over.

the phrase, "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" springs to mind.

Pfft just shows all the slow ass cars should move over for R32's! He would have seen the roundabout if they had!

Not all GT drivers do drive like that but unfortunatly most do, ive even seen a lot of mk6 (no idea which ones, they all look identical from the rear) hammering around recently, looks like the old GT fleet have upgraded

Yes it seem we are used to a little generalisation...

tbf everyone is different and we shouldnt do it... maybe it's just because the R32 driver was really in a hurry!! I know I usually am

To be fair Spaced, I am what would be considered an old fart now (at 46), but that doesn't stop my love of cars. When I was young I did have a few accidents, and that does tend to slow you down.

Anyway, I'd be screwed if I lost my license.
