Service plan
« on: 02 September 2009, 18:20 »
Need some advice here from current GTI owners!
Got a quote for a 3-service plan (10000miles /year) today thru the post from my local VW dealer
£499
Include routine servicing, MOT, oil and fluids
Sounds ok until I read the exclusions (The list is longer)
The most noticeable exclusion=Maintenance. Wonder what that means? :undecided:
Anyone got a cheaper quote?

We paid £250 for 3 years, max 30,000 miles. Check out the VW configurator.

£499 seems a bit steep, unless this is the after market plan. That is, unless you ordered it with a new car you have to pay extra!!!

Actually i think mine was £250 can`t be bothered to check at the moment ,Vw dealers should offer it to you when you buy the car.

Yeah I too paid £250.  I was offered this on the VW configurator and then again at the stealers when placing my order.

Volkswagen offer a simple one off £250 service plan that covers you for 36months/30000 miles.

Cars must be set onto Time/Distance (annual) servicing and will qualify you for:

at 12mths/10000 miles - Oil Change service
at 24mths/20000 miles - Interval service (including oil change)
at 36mths/30000 miles - Inspection service (inc oil and brake fluid change)

This is available for all Golfs delivered before the end of the year (although the almost certainly will extend it)

herbie: It sounds like your dealer is offering you their own internal version which is normally for used cars as you won't need an MOT for three years (as simonpolly said).

There should be posters in your dealership advertising this offer. If not, you may want to point them towards this: http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/golf-gti-vi/buying-guide/offers/

You can buy these plans upto 30days after your car was registered or it can be added onto a finance agreement!  We have about an 80% uptake on these....

Hope that helps

Can you tell us what exactly the interval and inspection service involve on a GTI, other than what is mentioned above?

I was told by my dealer I could take the service plan after the car was delivered, also the 2 years extra warranty.

if its any help i decided against the £250 service plan as it didn't cover stuff like brakes, wiper blades etc etc.  so i went for the £20 a month plan which covers everything and is a yearly service/10,000 miles service.
