Jamex lowering springs on stadard dampers
« on: 28 August 2009, 09:22 »
Think about buying these for my MK3 Gti (1998)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330292349611&fromMakeTrack=true

At £60 (inc free delivery) they seem like a bargain, until I can afford some decent Coilovers.

I know the standard shocks will wear quickers etc, but I only plan on a 35mm drop.

Any advice will be gratefully recieved..

Micky

To be honest as a short term measure you may be ok, standard shocks are very underdamped and the handling will be very poor as the dampers will struggle to work with the springs.

Would not be my choice.

Cheers Wayne... It will just be a temporary measure until I can get some coilies...

Ive seen Jamex coilovers on ebay for just under £200.00... My concern is at this price, will I just be wasting my money?

I dont want a huge drop, just 35/40mm.

Coilovers are ok but cheap ones can give problems, for your budget I would be tempted to pick up a susp. kit from Venom maybe as least that way your getting new shocks.

Still just cheap crap mate.

Jamex/Hottuning/TA technix/Raceland etc are all made in the same factory, just have different names slapped on them.

Plus I don't see the point in buying coilovers if you only want a 35/40mm drop

I have used and would recommend this lowering kit..

Also, yes Mk2/Corrado suspension will fit with Mk3 top mounts. I currently have Mk2 coilovers on my car.
