Edition 30 to MK6 GTI
« on: 26 August 2009, 19:30 »
Anyone made the move?  Any thoughts?  Does the mk6 feel under powered?

i'd imagine it would feel underpowered, given it has 20 bhp less (circa 10%)

the interior in the MK6 would be nicer though :)

ive had both and no it does not feel slower, even official figures are 0-62mph are 6.8secs edition 30 and 6.9secs mk6 gti, mk6 is also a little bit lighter, mk6 gti is certainly more nippy at lower revs as is standard mk5 gti over ed30 but mk6 gti does not run out of breath when it gets to around 5200rpm which is were ed30 is better than standard mk5 gti imo.

Thanks, I love the look of the MK6 but the ED30 just has bags of performance.  Mine is bluefinned with the latest map and it is sooooo quick above 4,000RPM.  It has zero issues putting the power down either so its potentialy at Focus RS performance with none of the chavyness!!  Even when the Golf R20T comes out it's going to have 280bhp max and based pretty much on the ED30 engine/turbo and will be £28k at least.  Against that the ED30 looks great value for some time to come.....

Widget on various forums has had his ED3 Revo'd to 300.  My MKVI is supposedly putting out 275'ish.

Oh i know mate but that would only be 5% above the stated BHP and that's not unreasonable? This motor is apparently a strong one and very tunable...

seems to me you are trying to pat yourself on the back, everybody on mk5 & mk6 section would know a remapped ed30 would be quicker than a mk6 gti. Zero issues putting power down, don't make me laugh ha ha ha
