Alrite i have always wanted a mk1 and now after doing loads of info about whats best for the ABF engine now i have that and wrote down , it was planned to go into my mk2 but its going into a mk1  , i just need to no about fitting it , just a few things im after to start with ,

Could i get power sterring for it as i would be looking at buying a pretty cheap 1.3 mk1 or even 1.1 so nothing fancy ,

i would be making a metal fuel tank to go into the back of the car so that is where i would have the fuel pump to handle the 2.0 16v ,

Would the big 280mm ish G60 brakes be good and would it just be the stock drums on the rear? down to the sub frame and wishbones engine mounts what is there to no about that , i would be fiitting aftermarket suspenion and poly bushing everything  , i have loads more to ask but rather than make this even longer start from going from here,

Any info would be great ! Cheers Joe

joe what ya doin copyin me dude???? lol

abf is a pretty simple conversion dude. wiring is prob hardest bit, but sure you know someone who can do that for ya?

as for brakes, to fit g60 brakes you need an adaptor plate, not sure how much it is as im buying mine as a job lot with the brakes/pads/discs etc

why dont you come give me a hand fitting my new lump next week, then you'll know whats involved in doin it yourself!

tbh though mate, i could get you a full vr6 donor to use on the mk2, for a lot less than youd be spending on an abf in a mk1!

1. A kit is available but not cheap!  look on the MK1 owners club, theres someone sellign one though it could be gone now. the alternative is to use bits from random jap cars with a bit of fabrication

2. polo GT/G40 fuel pump, filter and reservoir is a compact unit and should fit nicely under the car, or use whatevewr works with your custom tank

3. should be more than good enough on a MK1, the caddy forum sells the 280 conversion brackets. at the backs drums are fine since next to no braking done at the back anyway.

4. You need all MK1 1.5-1.8 Manual engine and gearbox mountings, plus if you get a 1.1 or 1.3 you need to chop the driver side engine bracket off the subframe and flip it upside down, then reweld a bit further up the chassis.
