They may well have access to the DVLA system now to register the car (saves them going and queing up at the PO or DVLA office) so this won't take long. Surely they are waiting until Sep 1st to register it?

IIRC, main dealers can 'pre-register' with the DVLA, so that the official 'date of reg' can be a few days ahead.

VWmaindealer might be able to confirm though.

Supaguard shouldn't take too long to do, can't guarantee that it will be applied with much love though.........

By the sounds of some of the feedback . . . . about 30 minutes . . . .  :lipsrsealed:

Yes, most dealers will have AFRL (Automated First Registration and Licencing). This means you can indeed part register a new car before the actual reg date. You can even register them a few days before hand. (We've already registered all of our 59 plates for the 1st). This avoids potential problems if the computers etc are down on the day.

This is why the dealer will be chasing you for insurance about a week before the car is due to be collected.

Was under the impression that ARFL can't be used for cherished numbers though?

was told by my dealer that my car arrived at their garage today (Tuesday) and I could pick it up on Friday, i.e. they need 2-3 days.

Is it possible to choose the registration they will give you ? Id hate to get one of the following..

VW59 FUD
VW59 COK
VW59 NOB

etc etc

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

When the stealer physically has their grubby mitts on your car, and are about to register it, they should fone you up, and give you a choice from their current block listing.
