Front Shockers and Springs

Hi Guys

I am going to have to change my front shockers very soon and have been looking for some locally. Have seen a good set locally which are advertised as Mark 2 Golf GTi shockers. Am I right in thinking that the Mark 2 and Mark 3 front shockers are the same and that these would fit my 1997 GTi 8v??  Just wanted to check before buying.  Thanks for help     Deano

Yes mk2 will fit but you need to use your top mounts and spring plates.


My own view is that it is pointless buying s/h shocks when they are cheap enough new, if you fit them and they are knackered your going to have to pull it all apart again.

Hi Mate     Thanks for the confirmation. The ones I am looking at are new but private sale so am getting new shocks at lower cost!!!!     Cheers     Deano
