anyone ever have a throttle position sensor fail ?

Not getting any errors logged, but getting intermittent high idle and hesitation on moving off from standstill. When it does this 'high idle' and I blip the throttle, it comes back down to normal again. Dealer is going to try a new TPS.

It's a mk6 but there aren't many people with a 6 yet on it's forum...just wondered if any of the mk 5's had it go and what were the symptoms?

A brand new Mk6, with problems, and the stealer is just 'guessing' by replacing parts at will! 

Get them to plug in their laptop based VAS5052, and do some proper live datalogging.  No wonder dubs are so expensive in this country, if the stealers rack up mega-bucks worth of un-necessary warranty guess-work!

so it only happens 2 or 3 times a week out of all times I stop and start at junctions/traffic lights. So could take them to have the car for a few days and someone to drive it about constantly...which worries me...especially someone from the workshop getting to lark about in my brand new car.

Then arrange to go out with them.  You drive, they sit in front passenger seat with tablet VAS5052.

it's finally thrown an error on the throttle body apparently. The stealer is going to replace it. This a big job TT ?. Have no faith in them or any other dealer doing it without breaking something else

in my 54 golf i had to get new throttle body which cost 1600 quid but covered by waraanty

the car would just cut out very unexpectadly ... once on the motorway

took about 3 weeks for them to find out what was the matter, then afew days to replace parts

Well at least they found the fault now.   And as Topher states, is an easy job - in fact, so easy, it could be done in about 15-20 minutes.  If you have ever lifted your big plastic engine cover - it virtually stares at you!

Sadly, that seems to be a common occurance.  But if they do fcuk up, just make sure you let VW UK know - because they can actually take action against 'failing' stealers.  But I've got fingers and toes crossed for you.

Agreed - but don't forget, the part that failed wasn't actually made by Volkswagen - and at least VW customers arn't 'beta testers' - like certain F0rds are!!!!
