It was hesistant, but worked great after the relays were done.

The other thing to do is remove the throttle body and clean it with carb cleaner

No need to remove it. Just use an old toothbrush and carb cleaner and reach in as far as you can.

If it is your clutch the engine revs will increase without the speed increasing very much.

Burning smell could possibly be the clutch slipping, very distinctive smell.

Get an 8 valve  16 valvers dont have a lot of torque low down, dont think it could be the clutch or engine would be revving.
Valvers have the same low down torque as an 8v

But I have heard from certain owners that the impressive 8v torque and power out puts rival the Enzo

For cleaning the throttle body, do I take the pipe off from the airbox?

I'm more concerned about this burning smell.

It is distinctive, and I definatly think its got something to do with it.

Actually valvers have more torque than 8v but it is achieved at 4, thousand something, where as the 8v acieves its at 2, thousand something. Thats the difference.

Much better to remove it, you will definately get all the crap out, and it won't go in the inlet manifold.
Its a simple job to do, just need a new gasket

Ok.  Will do that in the morning.

Am I right in saying that the throttle body is the bit on the engine side of the pipe between airbox and engine in the picture yeah?  Where the plug goes in.

Is it easy to remove?

About to do a search for it on here.
