hi all, well just to share with you, ive just got back from a 6hr journey in my p plate anni 8 valve and doing a steady 65-70mph i was getting 43.1 miles to the gallon!! well chuffed with that!

never missed a beat and for 139000 miles on the clock,  i cant go wrong!!!

The mpg figure on the mfa over reads a lot, mine used to 35 to 38 when it was really 28 to 30.

Mine does this too.
It reads once the engine is up to operating temperature it constantly reads 32.1 when in town which in reality is higher 20's 

This is not just VW's that does this, but EVERY car with an onboard computer gives out an optimistic reading.  Your best bet whilst studying your fuel consumption are brim to brim measurements, whilst brimming it to the top for the second time your you divide the amount you put in by how many miles your covered in the last tankful.

43 mpg is what the TDI would do, if you worked it out I am sure you will find it is around 35mpg.

yeh, my golf gives out very impressive figures, my 8v anni was almost doin blue motion polo figures other day ahaha, my car a compulsive liar

well my MFA works well and it does do what it reads, I've calculated it. Most I ever got was something on 42mpg. That was driving like a grandad however.

best i had was 44.1 on a 4 hour round trip. averaging about 70-80 (motorways all the way)
