Supaguard and gap insurance

Seems like my new toy will be okay for the first and the dealer is wondering whether I want either of these two...£400 for gap and £300 for supaguard.  Just wondering what others have been paying?

Same price from my dealer I took them both Gap is a must in my opinion the autoglym lifeshine I dunno I wont hold my breath on it being the be all and end all

i managed to get the gap insurance cheaper as my bro was the car salesman and i got lifeshine or supagaurd for free but i dont rate these anyway so i gave my car a good wash then clayed it then applied some jetseal 109 and the a layer of wax and it is gleaming now

Both garages I went to offered the autoglym/supaguard for free.

paint protection really is something you should be able to haggle for free

You should be able to haggle the GAP insurance down abit, take a few internet quotes along with you.  I found the internet stuff was a fair bit cheaper but the dealers GAP was a better policy.  Use the internet stuff to batter them down a bit.

Don't bother with the supagaurd, if you're keen on it you can buy it from ebay for a lot less and apply it yourself.  Better still visit the detailing section of this forum and invest in some good quality polish and most importantly wax.  I'd reccommend Collinite 467 for long lasting protection but other waxes will give a better shine.  All explained in the detailing section

Cheers guys.  Gap insurance seems a lot cheaper via the web will look for some recommendations and try for the discount on the dealers scheme...a few quotes around £200 for £12.5k cover on a £25k invoice price...so their should be some room for negotiation with the dealer.  As for superguard (never had it before) looks like I can get something equivalent for less though it might require a bit of elbow grease.

Like jules says, this has been covered before.

My dealer tried to charge me £300 for GAP for a 3 year policy. I went on the net and found a 4 year one for £190. When I went back to the dealer, VW did their policy for £190 just to get my business.

Personally I wouldn't bother with Lifeshine/Supaguard. Waste of money. Buy some Jetseal 109 and some good wax. Much cheaper, much better.
