yo dudes,

thinking about getting a k&n kit for my 16v, this one to be precise

have read the issues about heat soak and just wondered if this is any good? vvvvvvvv

and will obviously do a cold air feed aswell  :grin:. And i have also read about the drilling stock airbox but want to keep it as it is for when i sell the car on. Cheers

To be honest, I would stick with the standard airbox.

I know it doesn't address your question exactly, but Neuspeed do an induction kit for the 1.8T engine with a similar style metal heat shield. I know a guy with a Leon Cupra R who has it and he said that the heatshield did help. Picture from Google image search:

Maybe a similar metal box set up would work? Block the heat from the engine and run a cold air feed up to it maybe?
