  • Back in a Mk3...
I'm guesing its drums at the back? so I'm unsure if it has a load valve (on the rear axle) but bleed the whole lot and if it has the valve make sure it's fully open (don't jack it on the axle to open this fully)

If its drums, the shoes could be severely out of adjustment.
Or its probably the master cylinder as Wayne stated.

My old Cavalier had a brake pedal that would go to floor and it was the master cylinder.

It usually is the master cylinder seals that have failed.
If i remember right, the way to test it is, the brake pedal goes further to the floor the more you press it.

If it takes pressure to push the pedal to the floor it will be the master cylinder seal, if its spongy it will be air in the system, if it goes straight to the floor it will probably be something to do with the rear brake adjusters.

Ahh, feel a bit stupid now, it goes down quite far but not actually to the floor, the rear's need adjusting up as the handbrake is a bit weak.
