Get it sorted out before you drive it any further.

Considering you don't know this I would get someone who knows what they're doing to sort it out, brakes are your only means of stopping unless you hit something.

I'll bleed 'em tomorrow. Stops OK but at a standstill you can push them to the floor. Didn't think it was quite right, was going to bleed them but thought I'd get an opinion first.

If you can push them to the floor or they are sinking to the floor then you need to bleed the system through or your master cylinder has had it.

OK thanks, I'll do all four bleed valves.

If the master cyllinder is really gone, is there any other sizes that could help the brakes?

and if its an early mk3 (280mm front brake) you'll have great fun with the rears!! oh and open the load valve fully if it is  :wink:

I thought my brakes needed bleeding / master cylinder gone...  but  on closer inspection mine turned out to be a leaky servo pipe which had perished a bit and had a tiny split in it where it connects to the master cylinder, I got somone to  keep pressing the brake pedal and i could  faintly hear air escaping, once i replaced the pipe it was  fine..


thought that may help!
