Picked my car up today. :)
« on: 13 August 2009, 15:23 »
A 97 GTI 8v. From the comments on here i was expecting it to be super slow but it's not bad really, i reckon it'd
beat my old MK4 8v. it's completely standard apart from a Scorpion exhaust which isn't loud. Few marks here & there
but nothing touch up paint won't fix. It's a lovely red that hasn't faded & the alloys are mint too.

I have a few questions tho,
-The handbrake light stays on
-The petrol gauge doesn't move from the empty position
-And how do i turn the fog lights on at the bottom? :)

Cheers.

1) Switch or low fluid level
2) Faulty sender or gauge
3) Not sure factory fog lights are in the front bumper and the switch is on the light switch, if not factory then not sure.

For the front, and rear fog lights to come on, turn the light switch to the right all the way then pull it out :)

Handbreak light could be an abs fault. Does the abs light come on and off when u start it as it should do?

The light switch will pull out two clicks, one for rear and two for front IIRC.

The fuel gauge, if you take the bottom of the rear seats out, you will see a black panel, unscrew that and you will see a sensor with three wires. Take the green (IIRC) wire and touch it on bare metal, if your fuel gauge goes up (with ignition on) then it's the sensor.

Handbrake light with be low brake fluid or a faulty switch at the very rear of the handbrake under the leather cover.

Hope that helps. :)
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

Thank you. I tried the light switch by pulling it out whilst turned far right but only the headlights come on, no fog lights.

I'll give the rest a go tomorrow but if it is the sensor for the petrol gauge, is this an easy fix or will i need a mechanic?

Thanks again. :)
