car wont start
« on: 12 August 2009, 17:51 »
hi just joined

i purchased a anniversary gti (mk3) last week and as i was cleaning it today i thought i should check all the levels. i checked the screenwash and put some water in and the radiator fluid was a bit low so i put some deionised water in (thats right isnt it?) and then i checked the water dipstick it was black

so i thought i would change it i eventually found out you changed it by undoing the nut at the bottom of the engine and i drained it all out it was so filthy!

so i filled it up with water and some antifreeze and went to take it for a drive. it started making funny grinding noises and then stopped. im going to phone a mechanic tomorrow and ask him to take a look but i want the car later any ideas? thanks chris

You what?

You do know the dipstick is for the oil right and not the "water"?

There is no such thing as seperate radiator fluid and water, they are the same thing.

Mate, you've just f*cked your engine up, without proper lubrication it ceases.

The fluid you drained was oil, and was black because it was probably due a change.

Hope you've got money for a new engine.
Golf MK3 1.8 auto and I didn't pay a grand for the "priveledge", auto windows all round and a AC. Oh and I've got a luggage net you pricks!

Does that make my willy look bigger?

Oh yeah it's called Helda or something....

oh sh!t

are you sure?

im talking about a little orange ring i pulled up and was black come to think of it it smelt a bit oily but i thought it just happens over time

are you sure its not the headgasket starting to go and mixing into the water?

i took out a nut on a metal ridged thing at the very bottom of the engine.
