Golf 6 GTi - Fuel Consumption?

First post on this excellent forum. I just ordered a Candy White GTi with Xenon, DSG etc. and was kinda curious about your official figures when it comes to mileage, i.e. what is your fuel consumption when driving:

1. Highway (cruising)
2. Mixed
3. Spirited

Reading reviews usually just reference the official figure of 0.74 mixed.

Sorry if this has been covered in other threads, if so my search skills sucks

I'm not sure anyone has had their cars long enough to have worked it out yet.

And you might need a conversion factor from litres/km or whatever that was, to mpg.  (I know....    )

Yep, that figures. Most owners have had their car for probably just a few weeks but still hoping for some early numbers

On average I'm getting 36-38mpg on a long run, 25mpg around town and 32mpg with mixed driving. I personally think those figures are bloody good when you consider the performance. We have been running it in though and have maybe been taking it more gentler than usual. I live out in the countryside so upon leaving the house we are always moving and rarely get caught in traffic so that helps the consumption a bit. Have just hit the 1000 miles mark so have started to give it some berries now and are very impressed.

my commute into work is 18 miles....10 of them on a motorway, the rest on country B roads....getting 38-41mpg each day :-)

The same journey in my mk 5 GTI was about 34-36 mpg....the new one is defo easier on the super unleaded

^ Thats impressive stuff. I tell you what, these turbo VAG engines are bloody brilliant on fuel when you compare them to the Astra VXR and Focus ST fuel consumption.

I have only done 250 km so far (so the engin is still very tight), but I am averaging 7.8 litres/100km, which I think is very acceptable. Once it's properly run in, I should be down to the low 7s.

Awesome figures, thanks for the info all of you who contribute! To conclude I will probably save around 0.3L/10km as my daily commute is mostly highways, 25km.

Cant wait to settle down in the new car. Looks like end of November delivery though

For me I get around 25-35mpg around the town, about 38 on main roads back home, and once hit 44mpg on the motorway (doing about 65mph, but still not bad!). With spirited driving it's often around 20mpg
