drove my m8s 16v last weekend too see diff for myself(his not lowered)
yeah there a diff it it prob beat my 8v and felt alot more alive top end but long enough road or lack of brains and mine wld hav it  round corners(lowered) and in sight all day and yes std vs std it would beat mine but like suggested in previous reply i don't want the gti 8v for fuel and insurance ha ha of course i do that why it is wot it is, as i love the mk3 it great for both motor ways and b blasts(well very bendy blasts).

what about official stats?

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=121567.new#new

These threads are pointless as people will rave about the 16v which has crap torque to be honest.
