should i just let it go. . . . ?
« on: 10 August 2009, 21:52 »
well, at the start of june i crashed my old golf.  i went into the back of someone at around 20mph and hit there towbar that smashed my front up pretty bad that ended up in a write off. as there was no visible damage to there car not even a mark on the back bumper i really wanted to sort it out myself and leave insurance out of it so they said to call them when i got home and sorted etc. . . by the time i got home after waiting for break down peeps the third party had already rang insurance and was getting there car picked up the next day so they left me with the choice to get mine sorted same way which i did resulting in mine being written off. i told my insurance company that there was no visible damage to there car (which was noted) and that i would be imformed of the cost of damage to the car incase i wanted to settle it myself out of my own pocket. never heard anything so rang them a couple weeks ago and they had still not had a bill for any damage and they would let me know. . .  .

well last friday i got a letter just letting me know the third party costs was just over a thousand pounds. .  now i knew some would be for hire car but what hell was rest for?? as third party side of things are closed weekends i got to talk to them today and the £676 part of the claim was for sticking brakes and a miss firing engine?????? how can a 20mph back end crash cause that i said?? i didnt getting any answer and that my complaint would be put forward!

at the end of the day i know i had the crash and i'm not asking for my no claims back or anything i just want to teach the scum they shouldn't put in false claims!!

should i just leave it?

i thought this. . . but i just didn't wanna come across like i'm bitter or anything! i except that i crashed and to be really honest i've ended up with a better condition mk3. just annoys me that the damage being paid out is nothing from the crash which means i could of just fixed my own car up and saved my no claims! (which i asked the third party about but was too late)

seems like it has just been fixed as in fcuk it, the insurance is gonna pay for it and no one will chase it up!!

Hi Mate     In my experience it just is not worth the hassle. You will spend hours on the phone to insurance company who will just say it was your fault and pay out anyway.
I would put it down to experience and just be thankful that you also improved your own Golf and let these b******s go!!!!!!     Cheers     Dean
