Big steps forward on this tonight - stereo wired back in, leisure battery found to be dead, foam removed from the squab of the rock 'n' roll bed ready for replacement, fridge checked and run up - works fine, blown air heating checked and won't fire up, but fan runs, temp sender replaced on motor to bring gauge back working and probably a bunch of other stuff I've forgetten.

It WON'T be getting an ABF.

Nah - for a multitude of reasons - I'd need a manual gearbox, diesel mounting kit, wouldn't be able to put a good exhaust on it, the inlet manifold would be a pig to sort out and then there's the wiring.

'bout the only thing that could tempt me on this would be something from GoWesty:

Or a Subaru.  Ain't gonna happen though.

Lots of effort with water pipes and radiator placement, but would be worth it for a WRX motor.

If you're going to do something fast/sporty/plastic with a Subaru drivetrain though, you might as well go Murtaya:

Also pretty much removed the complete poptop tonight - there's a bunch of remedial work taking place over the next couple of days, which should stand it in good stead for many years to come.
