New Mk5 GTi - how much???????!

Just went on to the UK VW website to see how much the new Golf GTi Mk5 will cost ? am planning to replace my car next year you see?.

I went to the on-line configurator ? bog standard 5 door spec plus metallic paint and 18 inch alloys.  Guess how much?

They must be having a laugh.   You?re well into Audi A4 / Beemer 3 series territory there ? there?s no way I?d pay that for a Golf.  They?ve really lost the plot I think.  I used to think that VWs were worth the price premium but to be honest I think they?re taking the piss these days.  We bought a new Polo for my missus earlier this year and nice as it is, the build quality is not that good ? lots of rattles and squeaks.  We currently have two VWs but I think these will be our last.

Too damned expensive ? what do you all think?

i agree with you on the audi, beemer territory, i wouldnt pay that much for a golf either,  my mk4 golf rattles a lil in the centre console wen i go over bumps, is that normal?

the mk3 glovebox is PANTS lol..

solid other than that...

apart from was gutted to find my golf didnt have what my old '96 polo had.. which is a 'secret' drivers glove box that also gave access to fuses.. very handy for stashing sunglasses and stereo facia

actually.. a mate of mine who had a mk2 8v years back used to stash stuff behind the centre console coz u could reach round in the footwells

Ahhh.....theres many a place to hide things in your car!  Its a movable lockable storage tin
