I have a new driver's side window (long story) to install in my 5 door 1991. Also have a new lift channel and seal. Anybody know whether I should put the seal in the runner and then fit the wnidow into the seal. OR fit the seal to the window and push them both into the runner?
Don't want to break the new window by getting it wrong.

Assuming that your replacing a broken window, you need to fit the lifting channel to the bottom of the new glass, to find the correct position for this part, remove the door card of the opposite door, and measure! also take careful note of which way round the channel fits! transfer the measurements to your new glass and mark the position with tape or pen, place the top edge of your glass upside down, onto a smooth piece of wood, you may need help for the next bit... get someone to hold the glass, while you fold the rubber seal onto the bottom edge, taking note of the measurements, now place your metal channel over the rubber seal, using another block of wood, and a substantial hammer knock the metal channel onto the rubber, 4/5 sharp blows should knock it home, you will NOT break the glass doing this, as long as the top edge of the glass is seated squarely, and you dont catch the edge of the glass with the hammer!
To fit the glass into the aperture, you may ned to drop one, or both of the vertical channels that the glass runs in on the door... should be straight forward from then on... make sure you don't catch your paintwork!
