MK3 rear VW emblem on a MK2???
« on: 05 August 2009, 13:27 »
Hi all. Does anybody know if a mk3 rear VW emblem fits a mk2 perfectly. I believe they are both 76mm in diameter. I would like to fit a black mk3 badge on the back of my mk2! Cheers.

Mk2 "GolfGti" badges are fixed by 3 pins mate, on the latter ones anyhow, the mk3 is stuck on

The round badge is fixed with two pins into plastic grommets, I guess you could use a sticky one if you take the grommets out so long as the black rubbery backing is the right shape. Mine was stuck on with evo-stick......

Why not just paint a Mk3 one?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Well that’s sacrilege LOL!
Please don’t distain the MK2 look with Mk3 tat......... :lipsrsealed:

Anyway get some sand paper very light stuff to get rid of any old paint then use small filler to smooth off any holes. Clean with thinners when finishing, then after mask up the different areas of colours and start using some paint that works well on plastics. Job done!

The rear roundels fit. The front ones, on the later grill are just mk3 badges. On the mk3, they use a trim ring to accomodate it into the mk3 grill.
