Check the condition of the shell very carefully. Make sure it doesn't burn oil, and that gearbox is all ok, most other things can be fixed reasonably cheaply. Ask of he has any advisorys from previous MOTs ?

Thats what i was thinking, getting an 8v next tuesday so really wanted a 16v aswell instead of having two 8v's. Like the colour aswell, i am trying to avoid getting another red (pink) mk2.

Spoke to the guy this morning and he admitted that 2nd gear is a bit troublesome, but this doesn't worry me too much as i am a mechanic by trade anyway.

that's likely to be syncromesh, but changing a box shouldn't be a problem for you....

looks nice, not so keen on the painted arches and bumper top trim tho. Each to their own i guess.

He also says no big rust patches or dents/scratches and then further down he says dents and scratches.
just be wary of the repaint and check for signs of filling etc

also so you could haggle, Couple of things to bargain with. The drivers door does not sit right and it has odd side repeaters. you would have to pay to fix so try knocking it off the price.

I'm not keen on the painted arches and bumper tops either.

The bumpers look non genuine as the dont seem to fit very well, and if you change it back to small bumpers as it should be, who knows what you will find underneath.

I would rather spend that sort of money on an honest, un-modded car. At least you should be sure of a good base to start from.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.
