Too many cost so now need cheap but good tyres
« on: 04 August 2009, 10:08 »
Hi guys!

I need a cheap but really good tyres asap (think my front tyres are less 1.6mm!!!)? I been using the Toyo band tyres for a year now and they are really good but it wear down really quick!!! This will be my 5th and 6th pair this year!!!!!

I normally would buy some cheap band but this month I pay out on my Golf - £600 for a new air conditioning compressor
                                                                                                     - £60 for a new windscreen washer pump

Next month I will need to do my 60,000m servicing, which I don't know how much that going to be!?!?!?!

Try the Falken 452's.
I stuck them on my car a few weeks back, and have been pretty impressed so far - very good for a budget tyre.
Several forum members have used them and they do come recommended.

I had four of these a couple of months ago from tyre traders. Got 4 fitted for £300...

They are fine for the money, a little more road noise but grip great wet or dry.

Rhyso didn't rate them at all either... I think its a mk4 tyre size thing?

Wear is probably not brilliant (only had them about 7 months but they seem OK) but grip and handling is spot on.

tyres are 225/40/18 although it shouldn't make much difference.
I had mine fitted after having Goodyear F1's on and the difference is like day and night, but the goodyears are too expensive for me. my fronts need changing soon, which would be my 3rd set since November

Thats the heavy oil's fault obviously

I can see they are a bit of a comedown from the Goodyears.  For me they were a trade up from Dunlop Shytemaxxes so am happy with them.  Might give these Goodyears a shot next as everyone seems to rave about them.

what do they wear like  I dont want something which is illegal after 10k, ideal 15k+ would be great that would bring me down to 2 sets front and rear a year  :lipsrsealed:
