I've got my baby back!

OK, so it turns out the pistons weren't the problem once they got the head off, it was the cam shaft. Apparantly, one of the cams had worn so much that it was almost completely round! So although the cam aint cheap it's cheaper than all four pistons....yay!
They had issues sourcing a Sachs performance clutch (in the time required) so I got them to put in a brand new OE one. Which at the end of the day is brand new and a bit cheaper (yay), a shame they couldn't get the Sachs one but hey ho, I couldn't wait any longer to get my car back.
When they came to fit the clutch they discovered the master and slave cylinders could also do with being replaced, so out they came (boo).
So the parts list is...brace yourself...:
- Camshaft
- Camshaft bearings
- Camshaft hub
- Hydraulic tappets
- Head gasket
- Head bolts
- Camshaft seal
- sump sealant
- Oil filter
- Dual mass flywheel and clutch
- Slave cylinder
- Vacuum pipe
- Camshaft sensor
- Hub
- Master cylinder
Phew!
Including labour and VAT came to the pricely sum of £2800.
But, boy does it feel good. It's really tempting to put my toe down, but I'm gonna have to resist until i've done a hundred miles or so, to let everything bed in, before I see what it can really do.
