Paint advice on my mk2

So today my gf dragged her brolly down the rear panel, nice scratch grrr. Not too bad I thought, used some t-cut and some JML sh!te (never I repeat never use this!) and this has happened to the paint  :sick: It's kind of burnt through but still smooth to touch.



How much roughly would be a good price to fix this? Would the whole panel need to be sprayed? Was hoping I may get away with just the top half.

What do you reckon? Cheers

Easy, but not a cheap fix, you can get away with locally re colouring where it's rubbed through, then re lacquering up to the edges, and along the swage line that runs from the rear window, to the rear light, using "soft edge masking foam" It could be done with rattle cans, but a bodyshop should easily be able to put it back to perfect for about 3hrs labour, and £60 paint/matrials

Not hard at all! I don't know if I had a tube of duff scratch remover or something, it was very liquidy rather than paste. I'm just f**king glad I stopped when I did.

Cheers for the advice, going to have to pay out for this one then  :sad:

on a car of that age you should be extremely carefull when rubbing with any product,the paint will be very thin and wont take much to rub off completely, you would of been ok if it was metalic with a clearcoat. take it down to a bodyshop or a reputable sprayer and they should be able to blend that back in :wink:

 :grin: Ain't that the truth. In fairness she felt so bad she was the one who bought me the JML sh!te. I was reading on another forum that exactly the same thing happened with it to another guys car. Ah well live and learn. Let my mistake be a warning to you all  :wink:

Bodyshop wanted £160 odd to sort it out.
