I know some of you have probably heard this 100 times before,

In the last few months my golf's carpets have been getting damp, Especially the drivers side,
In a really short time now the passenger side footwell  has also got wet, and  recently after the heavy rain the car is so wet inside its filled the front footwells up and the water has also started pooling in the back.

I noticed while driving some of the water coming in seems to be coming under the dash and from the blower vents for the footwell.
After driving the car after heavy rain i can hear water swishing about and as i turn a corner  it generally stars pouring in!

I cant drive the car at the minute because the car steams up terrible inside, and you cant put the blowers on the windscreen to demist it because when you turn the blower on although you can hear the fan going  very little air comes out ( i guess due to the water)

My guess is from what ive read the plastic cover where the windscreen wipers are ( under this) gets the drain holes blocked up and water builds up over time and flows over  into the heater  etc...

I heard that  the drain pipes can get blocked from the top side and the bottom side as they come out  in the front wheelarches somewhere... is this correct?  if so where can i locate them under the arches?

Also my car has not got a sunroof so it cant be the sunroof drains...

If this is the problem  i have to tend to can anyone tell me, once removing the wiper arms i noticed the plasic cover under them is held on by what looks like those plastic push-in things,  im guessing you pop them out ,not screw.
But what id like to know is what you reccomend i use to remove these with to avoid making / splitting or damaging the cover itself

cheers all!

in the mk2 water was coming in through the leaf grill on the bulkhead because the scuttle panel was cracked and old. Never did sort it out despite using silicone. My best advice is find yourself a new scuttle panel if you have the same problem.

You trouble will be blocked bulkhead drains, if you remove the cover you will see them.

All mk3's have pollen filters, as I said in my earlier post you need to lift up or remove the cover and clear the drains out.

yeah as mentioned by wayne, clean out the drainage holes.

also if the heater is not working, maybe its the heater matrix leaking

Nah the heater works, and the fan works,  when its been dry for a while its fine but  when it rains and everythings full of water it seems  to be stopping the air getting thru.

So anyway this cover under the wipers, once i have the wiper arms off the plasic cover under them is held on by what looks like those plastic push-in things,  im guessing you pop them out ,not screw.
But what id like to know is what you reccomend i use to remove these with to avoid making / splitting or damaging the cover itself?

also as i mentioned before  do the bottom of the drainage pipes end in the front wheelarch covers somewhere? I thought if they did they may be clogged up for that end too?

No drainage tubes as such just 2 holes that feed the water out.
