maf adjustment... gas analyser??
« on: 31 July 2009, 18:50 »
hi all
im getting a second hand maf for my mk3 as mine is suspect knackered...
however my mate recons that it will need to be put on a gas analyser and almost calibrated... is this true, cos i was thinking that if it is the same part that it would bang straight on???

ps i put it in here rather than the mk3 section as i thought it was a farily generic question... apologies if it would be better there!!:)

I had a faulty airflow sensor ran better with it disconnected, Got another one off ebay and good as new. Disconnect your battery for a while after you fit it to let the ecu return to default.

If you do need to set it vag-com is your friend (and I'm sure someone on here will be able to help?) I'm sure mine needed vag-coming when a new one was fitted?

I didn't think the maf on a mk3 was adjustable? or are the early ones adjustable?

There not adjustable but I know mine went on vag-com after fitting (i am guessing it was to clear the fault code (and safe mode the car was in!) more than set it up?)

As above they are not adjustable but would be a good idea to clear any fault codes out.
