Dent removal - opinions please
« on: 30 July 2009, 23:23 »
Right I have a few dings on my mk2 I'd like to sort. This one on the wing being the most obvious although there is one in the door as well. Looks like someone has lent on the wing.

Option 1 - suction dent puller - tried this which pulled the panel out but wouldn't stay put before the sucker came off.

Option 2 - ding king http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ding-King-Dent-Repair-Tool/dp/B000PPJQMS Mixed opinions on this although it looks better than the above as it has a device in the centre to 'wind' the dent out. Anyone used one?

Option 3 - Read this from a search on here: "Nick your Missus' hairdryer & heat the dented area up as warm as you can get it then immediately hit it with compressed air i.e. an 'air duster' from a stationary supplier or similar. Hold the can upside down when you spray & along with a white residue you should also get a satisfying "pop" as the panel straightens out. You'll have to wipe the residue off but there won't be any damage to the paint or panel!"

Option 4 - repair shop. This is the one I'm trying to avoid as I don't have a lot of money  :undecided: £95 quote

Any advice appreciated
